Ready, Set, Go!

Here we go! I decided to start blogging as a part of opening my new etsy store to sell my hats at. Will I do well? I guess time will tell.

I've been working on many crafting projects and have more in the wings. I am currently finishing a full/queen bedspread that is crocheted. I made this for my oldest daughter, who is 3 years old. I started it when my youngest daughter was born. I made it in a block "quilt" pattern using 12 inch squares in a 6 x 7 layout. I enjoyed building the squares in this blanket, because I used different designs that I have used in different projects. Over the years I have been thinking about this blanket and building it in my head. Now it is almost finished. I am finishing up the border this week. I will share pictures when I am done.

I also just made my first apron this last week. I reused materials to make it. As a mom of 3 kids under 3 I found myself wiping my hands on my clothes all of the time. This was starting to get to me so the apron came into being. I used crib sheets that I bought at a thrift store for the material. The funny thing about using the crib sheets is that I probably could have used them in one of the kids cribs, I liked the colors though and now they've become my reversible apron! I've ended up loving this and look forward to having a chance to make more.

Lastly, I made an jean tool apron for my nephew's 4th birthday. My Grandmother made similar aprons for my brothers when they were kids. I used one as a pattern and went to work. I am very pleased with how it turned out.

To tell you the truth, I have done very little sewing over the years, so this was quite the undertaking for me. I am glad that I did it though and I look forward to doing more in the future.
